On the North West of Flinders Island, you will find the massive Castle Rock. This spectacular granite boulder stands tall next to smaller, lichen-covered rocks on the picturesque shoreline of the Marshall Bay Conservation Area. The walk to Castle Rock is an easy 1½ hour return walk that starts near Allports Beach and meanders through coastal heath and along stunning beaches. Castle Rock is great to view at any time of the day, but is particularly spectacular when the setting sun highlights the golden rocks and the orange lichens and popular with photographers. The walk is best undertaken at low tide – watch out for large waves during big seas.
