Waterfall Bay Track

Listing Details

Waterfall Bay Walk is a 1.7 kilometre each way, 3.4 kilometre return hike in the South East of Tasmania that is considered Grade 2 located in the Tasman National Park Tasmania. The walk will typically take less than 2hrs to complete. Waterfall Bay offers excellent vantage points that show cliffs plummeting into the sea and menacing ocean waters below that make Waterfall Bay an exciting coastal walk for the whole family within the Tasman National Park. The stunning coastline of this region of Tassie includes some of the highest sea cliffs in Australia; on a fine day Waterfall Bay provides spectacular views across the cliff-lined bay to a waterfall which, after rain, plummets straight into the sea and which is a magnificent sight. To access Waterfall Bay, from the small coastal seaside fishing and shack town of Eaglehawk Neck, on the Tasman Peninsula, take road C338 to its end at the Devils Kitchen. Public toilets are located some 2km away at the Blowhole. It is recommended that you supervise children and always stay within barriers - there are hazardous cliffs. No pets, firearms, or bicycles are allowed and visitors must have a Valid Tasmanian National Parks Pass to do this walk. Waterfall Bay can be reached boat, where it is possible to get a much closer view of the falls and even go diving in the bay itself. Arrival by a boat provides a very different perspective on the whole area as opposed to the views from cliff-top lookouts along the trail. The more traditional way of starting the walk is from the Devil's Kitchen car park through forest. The track stays fairly close to the cliff edge and there are plenty of places to stop and take in the spectacular views. The waterfall plunges from the top of cliffs into the sea following rain.
